On Tuesday, March 10, Mississippians decided whether or not it was time for a change within their parties.
For US Senate, Incumbent Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith held on to her seat - at least through primary season - with a sizable majority of votes (Hyde-Smith garnered 116,356 votes to challenger Sarah Adlakha’s 27,501 votes).
Adlakha’s reached out to potential supporters via social media messaging as well by appearing on radio and television. However, it wasn’t enough to oust the incumbent.
In the Democratic primary, Columbus’ Scott Colom would decisively command a victory over primary opponents Priscilla W. Till (23,899 votes) and Albert Littel (10,892 votes).
Hyde-Smith and Colom will square off with an Independent candidate joining - Ty Pinkins.
In Congressional District 3, Incumbent Republican Michael Guest ran unopposed in the primary. On the Democratic primary ticket, Michael Chiaradio was unopposed. The two will square off on the general election ticket in November.
