Beginning tomorrow, July 1, Mississippians will see a change in their grocery bill, although a slight change. The current grocery tax is 7 percent; on Tuesday, this will shrink to 5 percent. The new tax does not apply to all groceries, however.

Deli meats and alcohol will continue to be taxed at the present rate of 7 percent. The Mississippi Department of Revenue has posted a press release to further explain the changes.

There will also be a three-cent increase in the gasoline tax.

Stay tuned - we will post more information about the new tax changes and how they may effect your budget this week!
