Marcella Eichelberger Turnipseed Hubbard, a native of Louisville, MS, was honored as one of the oldest Rosie the Riveters at the Celebration of the National Rosie the Riveter Day on March 21, 2026. She will be 105 years old on March 28, 2026. She was a welder at the shipyard in Sausalito, California during World II. This event happened at the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park, Richmond, CA across the bridge from San Francisco, CA. It was established (while this author resided there) in 2000.
The Richmond Shipyard is reserved as one of the sites on the home front where ‘home front’ work was being done for the war. It honors millions of women who worked on the ‘home front’ throughout the country to help with the war. Marcella’s and my brother, Lorenzo Eichelberger was drafted into the war on March 28, 1941 and discharged January 5, 1946. He was stationed in the Phillipine Island.
Below are photos of the Celebration of the National Rosie the Riveter Day of Marcella with family members including
Sister Mattie Eichelberger Davis, who lives in Louisville part-time in the first photo:
