Friends of Dean Park, Inc. (FODP) has been blessed with a $25,000 USDA EQUIP Grant to expand its program - The Center Hill Farmers Market. The market is in its 3rd year and has grown, however, FODP wants to grow more vegetables and grow them year round in a high tunnel/hoop house. The market is a place for local farmers to bring their produce and canned goods. Oftentimes, enough of what customers want from farmers is not available at the market, e.g.. tomatoes. The grant provided most of the funds for the high tunnel/hoop house and it has been assembled, the red clay soil has been ammended and the drip lines for the irrigation system are in place.
FODP is waiting to dig a well for the irrigation system. The grant provided some funds for the well but not quite enough. We need the community to help us complete this program as this project is and will continue to be beneficial to the Center Ridge Community, Winston County and the surrounding area. We need at least $2,000. Please send your ($5. $10. $25. or more) tax deductible donation to:
