Brian Wilson, a co-founder and vocalist in The Beach Boys, passed away June 11, 2025. He was 82.

Wilson was an innovator and known for so much more than his voice. He has been described as "the formative genius of the group." Wilson wrote songs, produced, and would also discover other artists over the years. Two biographies detail Wilson's "genius" abilities where pitch and melody are concerned.

Wilson formed The Beach Boys with his brothers Dennis and Carl and a cousin at the tender age of 19. The group is synonymous with "beach" music. The band saw a heyday in the 1960s, but a television show in the 1990s would open them up to a totally new audience. "Full House" would feature a character, Uncle Jesse, who adored the Beach Boys.

This connection was actually a real-life one; Stamos was working with members of the Beach Boys in releasing his own work.

In the 1990s, "Kokomo" became a hit for the band, and a new generation would become a strong fanbase for the surfer music group.

Wilson's family released a statement about his passing June 11. The statement did not reveal a cause of death.
