Animal Control Officer and Head of the Louisville Animal Shelter, Byron Foster, is asking the community - "Why shop when you can adopt?"

The Louisville Animal Shelter announced on Monday that it is near capacity with adoptable dogs and cats. They range in age from puppies and kittens to older cats and dogs - and all of them "are waiting for a second chance and a loving home," says Foster.

The shelter is located at 86 Thompson Street in Louisville (from West Main Street, take a right onto Giffin Industrial Drive; at the stop sign, veer slightly right and the shelter is just across from Taylor Defense). Shelter hours are from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Thursday; the shelter is closed for lunch from noon until 1 PM.

Foster added that the Shelter is also hosting an Adoption Event on Saturday, August 2 at Louisville Tractor Supply from 10 AM - 2 PM.

The most important information, however, is the special price of adoptions in order to encourage the public to adopt a pet - from now "until further notice," all adoptions are reduced from $40 to $10 per pet.

If you are looking for a pet, please go by the shelter and check out these sweet animals who are simply looking for a "furever" home!
