
Class of 1969 celebrated 57th Reunion Classmate Naomi Thomas Taylor Speaker
The weekend of July 4-5, 2026 was filled with laughter, food and fun as 58 classmates of the 1969 Camile Street High School gathered at Melodee's Restaurant, LouisvilleMS for their 57th reunion on Friday night.
Saturday evening was spent at a banquet with classmate Naomi Thomas Taylor as their guest speaker.
Naomi was born in Louisville, Mississippi, the oldest daughter of nine siblings to the late Rev. Theodore R. and the late Mrs. Lillian G. Thomas. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Louisville, MS.
She was educated at Camile Street High School graduating in 1969 and Rust College (the oldest HBCU in Mississippi) graduating in 1973. She was inducted into the Rust College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2025 for serving as the administrative assistant of the Athletic Program for 45 years. As the newest member of the Rust College Athletic Hall of Fame, her legacy is one of percision, integrity and servant leadership. The generations of student-athetics she supported will impact Rust College for years.
She has been employed at Rust College for 53 years, currently serving as Executive Administrative Assistant in the Office of Institutional Advancement. She feels blessed to serve under the same Supervisor, for 45 years prior to his retiring in 2021, promoted each time he was as his Administrative Assistant. She became a member of the Marshall County Board of Election Commissioners (9 years) serving as chair for 8 years. Naomi was the 2025-2026 Rust College Office Professional of the Year. She is the widow of John Taylor who also attended Rust College.
The class was elated to have such a high achiever from their class as their speaker. Class president, Tommie Miller acknowledged that 69 of their classmates were deceased. One member stated that their class was possibly the largest class to graduate from Camile High School. Mrs. Rosa Armstrong Prince was acknowledged at the reunion as one of their Camile Street High School
teachers.
